Snow Jellies explores a pivotal evolutionary moment: the transition of static corals giving rise to the ocean's very first free-swimming jellyfish. The piece draws inspiration from the ethereal phenomenon of marine "sea snow" - organic drifts that sustain the deep - reimagined here through luminous washes of alcohol ink and delicate, tactile embroidery. Sculptural yarn jellies drift away from dense seed-bead reef beds, anchored by branching gold thread pathways and trailing, beaded tentacles that seem suspended in open water. Requiring around 100 hours of devoted hand-stitching, the reverse remains intentionally unlined to reveal the hidden architecture of thousands of knots and thread pathways.
